Motsweding FM takes birthday bash to Sun City
The celebrations kick off at Sun City on Saturday, June 25 with the ‘Ultimate Konka Concert’ featuring the hottest kwaito and hip-hop acts.

SABC radio station Motsweding FM is turning 54 years old and is set to celebrate this significant milestone with an unforgettable experience. All listeners are encouraged to attend the exclusive inaugural Annual Motsweding FM Birthday Weekend Extravaganza which will be held at the Sun Park at Sun City Resort in Rustenburg on June 25 and 26, 2016.
The massive weekend-long birthday celebration is the first of its kind for the station and will boast a star-studded line-up of South Africa’s hottest kwaito, hip-hop and house music DJs, and Afro soul acts. SA’s music heavyweights headlining the event include Mafikizolo, Fifi Cooper, Emtee, Robbie Malinga, Tuks Senganga, and many others. Also scheduled are special guest appearances from Black Motion, DJs Sphe and Naves, and the station’s very own presenters and talent.
Acting marketing manager at Motsweding FM, Sibusiso Gumbi, says: “Motsweding FM’s listenership cuts across South Africa’s diverse audience from the young to old, hence traditionally the inclusion of different genres on the line-up. This birthday celebration is aimed at bringing our colourful multicultural audience together to celebrate with us.”

The celebration starts on Saturday, June 25 with the “Ultimate Konka Concert” featuring the hottest kwaito and hip-hop acts including Black Motion, Sphe & Naves, Naked DJ, Fifi Cooper, Emtee, Tuks Senganga, DJ Big Boy, DJ Papa, DJ Malwela Thasman, DJ Essence, TJH, DJ Limo, DNS, MCs Lara Kruger and LTK, and a surprise act. Golden tickets cost R250 each and VIP tickets R600 each.
The “IKETLENG Unplugged Sunday Sessions” follows on Sunday, June 26 featuring Mafikizolo, Moneoa, Musa, Robbie Malinga, Amon Mokoena, Benny Motaung, KB Molopyane, Jdsol, Ernest Pillay, Miss K and TS, hosted by Motsweding’s very own funny duo Sammy Fever and Mawick. Golden Circle tickets are R300 each and VIP experience tickets are R800 each.
Seats are limited to 2 200 people per day who will get to experience the festivities for the two days. Tickets can be purchased at Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers.
