We all have a different idea of what parenthood should look like and in the end, the reality of parenthood is quite different for each and every parent. And that is ok. In fact, it is more than ok, it is fantastic. Because who really wants to live a cookie-cutter life anyway?

Over the course of the next few months, we will be running our very first Parenty Photography Competition, sponsored by Canon, with several rounds, ultimately culminating in a grand prize winner whose image will have been judged the winner by three professional photographers and the Parenty editors.

The brief: Show us what parenthood looks like to you

Remember Parenty believes in a world with more than one story of parenthood. Parenty is here for perfect-ish, so don’t be afraid to show the good, the bad and the ugly. As long as you stay true to you, we are not judging the content, we are judging the ability to capture your reality, your concept and your execution.

No one will be penalised for a perfectly imperfect moment in life.

The Rules of Engagement:

• General “don’t be a cheater” rule: All entrants must own the copyright to the images submitted, they must be the creators of the image entered, do not plagiarise, copy or misrepresent your entry. We will find out and we will shame you. Oh, and you will be disqualified.
• Call to entry: 18th September – 20th October 2019 will be the time for creativity. During this time, you will need to conceptualise, capture, edit or do whatever you need to do to make your image happen. Entries for all photographs will close at 12 am on the night of Sunday 20th of October.
• Batch 1 & 2: There will be two batches of quarterfinalist images that will go through to the next round. These batches of quarterfinalist images will be showcased separately, one batch in October and the second batch in November. Parenty will announce and showcase the images that have made it through to this round on all of our platforms.
• Lobbying & Voting: Once the quarterfinalist batches are announced, the creators are then free to drum up votes, as The Gram and Facebook audiences will be the judges of this round. The more likes, the better your chances of going through to the next round. And if you make it through to the next round or the semi-finals you are guaranteed a kick-ass prize! We will select 5 semi-finalists in October and 5 semi-finalists in November. They will be announced and showcased by Parenty on all of our platforms.
• Judging: Will take place from the 1st to 8th of December 2019. All the winners will be announced – runners up, second place winners and the first place winner.
