According to the latest research, it is estimated that infertility in Africa affects one in six couples.
This means that in Southern Africa alone there are eight million people suffering from infertility.
Globally, one in 60 babies in the US are born via in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and other artificial treatments. In Denmark, Israel and Japan the figure is more than one in 25 and rising.
It is against this backdrop that the Fertility Show Africa 2021 will be returning this year and is set to kick off in October.
Organisers have promised a fully interactive two-day online event that will offer participants access to a wide range of world-leading specialists, experts and clinicians.
“Following its hugely successful debut last year, FSA takes place on Saturday, October 9 and Sunday, October 10, and will allow attendees from around South Africa, the African continent and the rest of the world to discover everything they need to know before, during and after their fertility journey,” said Fertility Show Africa 2021 organisers in a statement.
They are really proud of the expert talks that they have lined up and scheduled into a cutting-edge programme, sponsored by Ferring and supported by IFAASA (Infertility Awareness Association of South Africa) and SASREG (South African Society for Reproductive Medicine and Gynaecological Endoscopy).
The talks will be presented by fertility and medical professionals and adoption specialists from countries such as the US, Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.

The Ferring Expert Talks are also accredited in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
“All medical specialists, gynaecologists, lab coordinators, nurses, reproductive medical professionals and fertility practitioners who are keen to explore, meet, engage with and discover the latest cutting-edge technologies, products and solutions in the field of fertility can earn CPD points at the Ferring Expert Talks.
“Delegates who attend the two-day Expert Talks will earn 15 CPD points or seven points on the Saturday and eight points on the Sunday.”
Trade delegates will also have the opportunity to meet with colleagues in the virtual medical specialists’ lounge.
“Ferring is proud to support such an essential, well-organised, patient-information congress. Fertility is an important topic and we are passionate about informing, educating and supporting the public on factors relating to fertility,” said Gottie Scholtz, Ferring marketing and sales manager for reproductive health.
