South African comedian Trevor Noah has just completed his very first show as the host of The Daily Show, taking over from American legend Jon Stewart. It is not only South Africans who were waiting with bated breath, but people around the world have also been eager to watch the talented funny man at work.
Noah paid tribute to Stewart and vowed to carry on the great tradition in front of a live studio audience. In one of his jokes, he told the audience that Comedy Central had asked Americans to do the job, but once again a job that had been rejected by Americans was being done by an immigrant.
While there is a special screening this afternoon for some lucky South Africans, the country at large will be able to catch his debut performance at 9pm tonight on Comedy Central. Watch this space as we update the story throughout the day.
