Every season there’s a defined palette of neutral hues, which set the tone for the season. For winter 2018, the top choices are charcoal grey, chocolate brown, olive green, tan and cream.
As an added bonus, these shades work perfectly with the rich textures that are in style this winter, such as faux fur, chunky knits, corduroy and leather.
Olive green is not the only shade of green that will be in style during winter 2018. Darker hues, such as hunter and emerald green, also get the nod as a flirty alternative to neutrals.
These shades look great on most complexions and complement every other colour on this list.
When it comes to red hues only two shades will do, burgundy or bright scarlet.
Burgundy is a richer, deeper tone, which complements all complexions. In contrast, scarlet is definitely not for the faint-hearted as it makes a bold, style statement and suits complexions with warmer undertones best.
Ultraviolet may be this year’s colour of the year, but purple turns up in more than one shade this winter. Softer shades of lavender and lilac also work, as do richer hues of the colour of royalty.
Yellow hues provide the perfect pop of sunshine in winter. Bright yellow and deeper, earthier mustard hues are both in. However, these hues are not for everyone as they can leave your skin looking washed out.
