In this episode of the Tech Check podcast we talk to Marce Bester about the Strix Scar 18, the RTX 40 series, and gaming in general.

In episode 6 of Tech Check With Kahla and Kruger, we talk to Marce Bester from Asus about the Strix Scar 18 gaming laptop – a beast powered by Intel’s 13th Gen Core i9.

Marce walked us through the technical specs while Lyle and I share our thoughts about this next-gen gaming laptop.

PODCAST: ROG Strix Scar 18

The ROG Scar 18 was showcased back in February, at a media launch held at Mettlestate in Fourways, where it effortlessly handled demanding games and tasks.

It offers up to 64GB of DDR5 4800MHz memory with 50% faster data rate for smooth streaming, chatting, and gaming simultaneously.

I, personally, was a fan of the upgraded cooling system, which includes tri-fan tech with full-surround vents to endure even the most strenuous of gaming sessions.

It also has an enlarged heatsink build superficially for the Strix Scar 18, along with seven heat pipes to increase heat dissipation.

Pricing and availability

Lyle and I had a blast taking it for a spin, and we concluded it is hands-down a gamer’s dream come true.

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 18 is available from selected retailers: Evetech, Wootware, Takealot, Incredible Connection, and the ASUS eShop.

The starting price for the RTX 4080 is R79 999, and you’d need to fork out R87 999 for the RTX 4090.
