Technology manufacturer, OPPO has announced the launch of the Find N2 Flip, the brand’s first vertical foldable device available in South Africa.
The device is the first Find series to be launched in South Africa.
With the Find N2 Flip, OPPO is aiming at setting a new standard for cutting-edge smartphone innovation in 2023.
The company said it continues to build an open ecosystem around the best technology for its smartphone and spent over four years experimenting on six prototypes of foldable phones with a high focus on style and functionality.
The Find X, a flagship mobile phone from the Oppo Find series was launched in 2018.
OPPO said the Find N2 Flip brings with it both the convenience of a smaller and more compact foldable design.
“It can easily fit into a pair of jeans or a clutch bag, and boasts the largest cover screen on any current flip phone. Proving its toughness, the Find N2 Flip lasted for over 400 000 times in folding tests.”
The Find N2 Flip boats a generously-sized portrait-mode cover screen, which is 70% larger and sports a hinge that is thinner, smaller and stronger than its predecessor (which was not made available locally).
It is able to easily fold flat, while any creases between the two halves of the screen are almost invisible. The Flexion Hinge can hold angles between 45 and 100 degrees. It has a FlexForm Mode, which can stand on its own like a tripod.

The Find N2 Flip features a 3.26″ (720×328) screen, with the foldable AMOLED option measuring 6.8″ (2520×1080) when opened up.
The Find N2 Flip is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset, which supports the aforementioned 5G capabilities. Added to this is 8GB RAM and 2 56GB onboard storage including dual-SIM functionality.
The Find N2 Flip has a camera system that was co-developed with Hasselblad Camera for natural colour calibration and dual preview.
It includes a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP selfie camera with autofocus. This enables the user to take high quality selfies with the main camera when the phone is closed and preview them using the cover screen.
The Find N2 Flip is equipped with a large 4 300mAh battery and 44W SUPERVOOC fast charging, allowing the user to have a longer battery life and faster charging times.
Additionally, with OPPO’s and 44W SUPERVOOC fast charging, the company claims users can quickly and easily recharge their smartphone to 50% in just 23 minutes, which is significantly faster than traditional charging methods.
The device has multitasking features, enabling users to reply to messages, adjust settings, and answer calls without opening the phone’s main screen and its fingerprint-resistant glass cover, and a micro-etched wave pattern across the hinge, further adds to its appearance.
It will be available in classic black and shimmering glossy purple with polished aluminium sides.
Liam Faurie, Head of Operations and Go-to markets for OPPO South Africa said the company is excited to showcase its latest smartphone.
“We created this device to set the new premium standard for innovation worldwide. As OPPO, we are setting the bar with the flip model.”
The OPPO Find N2 Flip is available from Friday, carrying a recommended price tag of R29 999 (from R1 199 per month on contract) at all network providers for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model.
