Luthando “Lootlove” Shosha, mother of Hip and Hop and TV presenter recently shared the cutest pictures of her twin girls. Her post was so heartwarming that she got 1,000 comments for it.
Lootlove openly shared with her 1 million followers about how difficult those first three months of post-pregnancy are. She called it “flight mode/survival mode”. It is those first three months when you do not know whether you are coming or going.
The picture was taken when the twins were three months old. Lootlove expressed that she went through the most. Between colic, different sleeping patterns, feeding and burping, she felt like a total robot.
THIS is the reality of parenthood.
Not the cute Instagram pictures that leave other moms feeling inadequate.
Lootlove said: “I’m thinking about how far I have come and how little credit I’ve given myself. How quickly I adjusted but also how much pressure I put on myself to ‘figure it out’.”
We put so much pressure on ourselves as parents to be perfect and do things “right”. There are so many standards set by the world of how moms should be and what they should do. And when we take those standards and use them to measure ourselves, we always feel like we are lacking.
Lootlove’s message to all mothers is simple:
“You’re doing so damn great! Ask for help & don’t forget to take time to rest.”
Let that sink in, moms. You are doing great!
Days are also never the same. Some days will feel like a breeze, while others will leave you feeling like a failure. But you are not. You are just a mom trying to make sure you provide the best and safest life for your little humans.
Remember: perfect parents do not exist. We can only strive to be perfect-ish.
