As the country moves to Level 3 of the lockdown on 1 June, a lot of uncertainties experienced on Level 4 were addressed. The date of schools reopening was one of these issues.
The announcement was made, but parents and even school principals are still in the dark as to whether or not pupils are coming back on Monday.
Two principals who are leading schools in Joburg North and the Westrand informed us that they have not received official communication regarding reopening. These principals would like to remain anonymous. The announcement was made, but nothing further has been communicated.

The school in Westrand started deep cleaning the school classes and premises, but nothing further has been relayed to the school’s administration.
The parents are also not sure what is happening as sanitisation efforts are being made communicated to them, but no one from the school is officially saying “bring your Grade 7 or 12 students to school on 1 June”.
No official communication is being made to parents either via email, text, or phone call.
