It is documented that the first motorised hearses came out in 1909 but it wasn’t until 1920 that they become more mainstream.
Prior to the 1900s, the funeral vehicles were usually just a horse and cart, and kind of a sh*tty way (considering how much horse poop) to depart to the next life.
However, when the ‘20s rolled in, the horses were not the only adjustments made to hearses and car designers really went crazy in their attempts to make the carriages more ornate.
