Sexy little numbers
The month of love is seemingly also the month of lingerie.

Sexy underwear design has come a long way from the days when corsets where made using whalebone and required an army of assistants to put on. These days, less is more – but not too little, advises stylist Nokulunga Bathon.
“Lingerie doesn’t always just mean a lace bra and panties,” says Bathon.
“There’s so much more to play around with.”
Top Billing presenter Bonang Matheba recently held an intimate event where she showcased her sexy lingerie line Bonang For Distraction with retailer Woolworths. Some of the standout pieces include a sheer striped padded bra and a leopard print one piece with lace finishing.
“While it is tempting to choose the most attractive looking lingerie from a popular brand, the most important factor to consider when buying lingerie is fabric,” says Bathon.
“No matter how pretty it looks from afar, if the fabric is scratchy and uncomfortable you’re not going to feel sexy in it. Stay away from fabrics such as polyester and nylon and opt for pieces in silk and satin instead.”
Avoid buying lingerie online – even if it’s a gift, advises Bathon.
“You should at least feel the fabric before you purchase it,” she says.
It’s also important to consider your body type. What looks good on a Victoria’s Secret model is not necessarily going to look good on you. “If you feel self conscious about your stomach or rear end, then instead of buying a g-string two piece, opt for a short chemise that will accentuate your legs instead,” says Bathon. But remember to be adventurous as well, she advises.
“Lingerie is meant to be playful and sexy – not necessarily practical, so try hot colours like red, black and leopard prints and avoid boring white cotton like the plague.”
After spending a fortune on your delicate pieces, its important to take good care of them to keep them looking beautiful.
“Handwashing is the safest way to keep lingerie clean, but if you prefer using the washing machine, put the underwear in a pillowcase before putting it in the machine,” advises Bathon.
