The hairstyles at the 60th Grammy Awards in New York on Sunday night were bold, glamourous and often unexpected.

Lady Gaga’s intricately laced, corset-style fishtail braids were both offbeat and elegant, with the deceptively simple style complementing the slightly Gothic style of her lace bodysuit.
Katie Holmes nodded to the 1920s, with a steely crop that featured a sharp side parting and slick, gelled finger waves. The raffish style contrasted perfectly with her soft mauve-hued makeup.
Miley Cyrus channeled old-school Hollywood glamour with a set of perfectly coiffed, glossy blonde curls that were parted at the side and tumbled down her back. Minimal makeup put the style at the center of the star’s beauty look.
Singer Cardi B showed the world how to rock a messy bun on the red carpet while still looking like a fairy tale princess, with a tousled style that was backcombed at the front for volume, and softened by the loose tendrils framing her face.
Rita Ora put a modern twist on classic Hollywood waves with a slicked-back ombré style that was slightly brushed-out at the ends for added texture.
