The hype surrounding Beyoncé’s Black is King is still gaining momentum but one group is not pleased.
Beyoncé’s track featuring Shatta Wale, Already, was published on 31 July in conjunction with the visual album.
In the video, there are several scenes of spinning cars and stunts that were shot in South Africa. The stunt team that produced this footage has come out to say there was no communication whatsoever for their footage to be used in the video nor in Black is King.
In a Facebook post, Bradleigh “Skopas” McGregor, a driver in the stunt team said: “We as Bad Company have to announce that it is as much as a surprise to us as to you the fans, seeing the Already music video with Beyoncé and Shatta Wale. We have had no contact or communication with either Beyoncé or Shatta Wale in conjunction with using us as Bad Company.”
Speaking to The Citizen Skopas said they believed the footage was shot two years ago. He said it was himself and his car that was used on the footage, explaining that footage shown in the film is usually done legally on a Thursday evening at Wheels N Smoke arena.
He said at that time Wale was scouting footage for his own music video and was in the arena.
“It’s unclear who took the footage, but you need to ask permission to take such footage.” He says he believes Wale thinks he owns the footage because they have it.
“What we want is communication, who took the footage, who gave the footage and legally they must stand at what they did. I don’t know if its a grey area, but we were given no accreditation at the end of the movie. We want to be credited for what we did. People have no clue that it is us who did this. ”
Bad Company is a spinning and stunt team that started in 2016 consisting of four members, they create unbelievable content of spinning cars and are entertaining stunt spinners seen across the country. They have worked and appeared in music videos for Nasty C, Davido, and for international car show the Grand Tour.
