Reality show winner fears for her safety

'So You Think You Can Dance' winner Sibahle Tshibika and her family have been forced to go into hiding amidst rumours that a price has been placed on her head.

The 23-year-old dancer’s recent victory on the SABC1 reality show has been bittersweet, as soon after winning she learned that her grandmother had died and on top of that now fears for her own safety.

According to the Cape Argus, the Tshibikas have been warned by three people of rumours that kidnappers are planning to take her hostage so they can demand her R250 000 prize money as ransom.

Speaking to the publication about the warning she received from a friend, the dancer said: “She told me she had heard that people had set a price on me for when I return. My friend’s mother advised me not to sleep at home because it’s dangerous.”

Her sister, Sinalo, said: “We were celebrating my sister’s win when a girl I don’t know approached me and told me there had been talks in the area that Sibahle or any one of us would be kidnapped and held at ransom for the money my sister had won.”
