Another weekend and more fun things to do in and around Gauteng from today until Sunday, 28 May.
Today on the list of things to do this weekend is the Portuguese Festival, the Annual book fair, Mother’s Day celebration event to wrap up Mother’s Day month, and the DLSHCC Highland gathering.
The three days festival is held at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg from today until this Sunday at 10pm. Traditional Portuguese music, dances and cuisines are once again the centerpiece of the festival. The lineup includes Kurt Darren, Jack Parrow, Mi Casa, Choppa and DJ Crazy G.
“We are extremely proud of the musical lineup we have put together for the 2023 Portuguese Festival. We have obviously catered to Portuguese tastes in our set lists, but we represent a whole range of musical genres on each of the show days.
“Obviously Sunday will be the big day as far as the musical lineup is concerned when we will be rolling out our heavy musical hitters,” the event organiser Paulo Calisto said.
Tickets are R120 for adults and R80 for kids under the age of 14.

If you are a bookworm, you will be excited to know that Kingsmead College is hosting the 11th Annual Book Fair this Saturday. The event promises good food and drinks and also in-depth discussion and heated debate.
“We hope that this year’s programme provides a mixture of comfort and courage. May you explore new genres and attend sessions that you may not have in the past – be courageous with your choices.”
The celebration for mothers continues in Pretoria this weekend at the National Zoological Garden. The event will be headlined by KAYA FM presenter T-Bose, Metro FM’s Paul Mtirara, and DJ Young. Tickets are 150 for kids and R170 for adults.
From as little as R30 for the entrance fee, DLSHCC Highland is finally hosting a long-awaited gathering tomorrow from 8am until 7pm at De La Salle Holy Cross College in Johannesburg.
The Highland Gathering was started in 1979, as a small competition with a few participating bands, and it has since grown to be one of the leading events and one of the biggest fundraising and community connection events at the college.
Another Mother’s Day event to wrap up Mother’s Day month. Imbokodo Zase Mzansi brings you Fun Valley Mother’s Day celebration at Fun Valley Pleasure Resort this Saturday. Tickets are R150 and R100 for a cooler-box.
