MTV VMAs 2019: The best looks from the red carpet

The 2019 MTV Video Music Awards, which celebrate the best music videos every year, were held Monday night at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Between glamour and eccentricity, the red carpet hosted a wide variety of looks, each more colourful than the last.

Pink, a big trend this season, was seen accentuating many looks, while blazers worn over shorts or pants were also big.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift bet on colour from Atelier Versace with a blazer jacket with distinctive shoulders and a pink crop top. The entire look was encrusted with Swarovski crystals.

Zara Larsson

Swedish singer Zara Larsson went for a frilly, pastel-pink Giambattista Valli dress.

Singer Ava Max brought the superhero vibe to the MTV Video Music Awards, with a red and silver out. She also garnered attention for her asymmetrical haircut, short on one side, long on the other.

Actress and singer Keke Palmer dazzled photographers in her clingy, sparkly yellow dress.

Tana Mongeau

It was impossible not to notice internet personality Tana Mongeau on the red carpet, as she carried a live snake in her arms. She wore a minidress and Nicola Bacchilega thigh-high boots.

Bella Hadid

Model Bella Hadid chose a skirt and bra-top ensemble decorated with yellow flowers. Built-in straps made it a dress.
