WATCH: Toddler injured after terrifying journey on baggage carousel

In 2013 a baby died after going on a similar trip on a baggage carousel.

Surveillance footage has revealed the terrifying moment a toddler falls onto a baggage carousel and is whisked away into the bowels of the airport, reveals America’s ABC news.

The two-year-old boy, named Lorenzo, had walked away from his mom at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport while she was printing her boarding pass on Monday. He can be seen playing on the edge of the carousel before tumbling on and being carried swiftly away past the rubber curtain and into the workings of the system.

On another camera, his mother, Edith Vega, can be seen desperately trying to get the staff from Spirit airlines to stop the carousel, but they don’t have the ability and the panic-stricken mom is forced to wonder what is happening with her child. Meanwhile, Lorenzo is seen climbing over bags and trying to get away, but he is whisked down chutes finally arriving in the Airport authority’s staging area, where they immediately notice him and lift him to safety.

While Lorenzo was hospitalised after the incident his mother has admitted that she was “freaking out” throughout the incident.

“I just went blank, I was, like, ‘Hey, my son…’. I wanted to jump in and try to go get him but they didn’t allow me,” she said.

In 2013 a baby died at Alicante airport in Spain after his mother accidentally dropped him onto the baggage carousel and he went on a similar ride that resulted in catastrophic injuries.
