Former ANC youth league president Julius Malema came out tops in a recent poll asking South Africans who they’d most like to see in the hot seat at this year’s ‘Comedy Central Roast’.
Now the leader and founder of new political party, the Economic Freedom Fighters, Malema proved to be the favourite candidate for the infamously harsh insult-session in 2013, topping the poll alongside celebrities including 5FM shock jock Gareth Cliff, cricket player Herschelle Gibbs, renowned newsreader Riaan Cruywagen, singer Danny K, SA President Jacob Zuma, shamed Paralympian Oscar Pistorius, and quirky radio presenter Kuli Roberts.
Last year, Afrikaans singer Steve Hofmeyr was chosen to sit in the dreaded roasting seat and be subjected to the comedic insults of both the raostmaster and the variety of roasters in front of a live audience.
According to the Star, Comedy Central will in two weeks reveal the name of the lucky chicken they chose to be roasted. The ‘Comedy Central Roast’ will be broadcast live on DStv at 9pm on 24 September.
