Here are some tips and ideas for fitting a homeschool space into your small home…

It’s not every parent’s dream to home school their children, but thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s not much of a choice.

It’s overwhelming for many, and even more so if you live in a small house or apartment and feel like you don’t have a proper homeschooling space.

To help you get to grips with homeschooling, here are a few tips for setting up a space to inspire and encourage learning in even the smallest of homes…

Use your kitchen/dining area

You don’t need a special homeschooling room – you canuse the kitchen table or the dining room table and area as the base for your homeschool space.

Add kid-friendly storage

Look for kid-friendly storage that you could bring into the space for homeschool supplies, like a bookcase, dresser or kist.

This is where you could store items you want the kids to be able to access and put away by themselves.

Vertical storage

When you need more storage space, utilising vertical space in a small home is the way to go.

Put up a few open shelves and you’ll have a place to store all the items you want to have on hand for home school, but that you don’t want the kids to have unlimited access to.

To keep open shelves organised and reduce visual clutter, use attractive baskets, boxes and magazine holders to store homeschool supplies while complementing them with the rest of your home decor.
