How body oil became the beauty accessory of 2018

The shimmery makeup product has enjoyed a major revival this year.


After months of teasing, Chrissy Teigen has finally unveiled the fruits of her her latest beauty collaboration with Becca Cosmetics; the model and TV presenter has been cooking up a sparkly, bronze body oil.

Dubbed the “Becca x Chrissy Teigen Endless Summer Glow Body Oil,” the new product is jam packed with shimmering glitter particles designed to give the wearer a beach-ready glow.

According to an Instagram post from the brand, it is the first of multiple upcoming products dreamed up with the star.

In opting to launch a body oil, Becca Cosmetics and Teigen are bang on trend; the shimmery makeup product has enjoyed a major revival this year.

Superstar Rihanna was one of the first to jump on the resurgent trend back in March, when she unveiled two new “Body Lava” gel-based luminisers under her Fenty Beauty by Rihanna cosmetics brand, acting as her own best advert for the new launch by showcasing sexy, sparkling skin wherever she went.

Cruelty-free label Tarte also recently unveiled a limited-edition vegan “Mer-Mist Shimmer Spray” for face, hair and body, while MAC Cosmetics sent beauty fans into a spin with the launch of its cult-favorite “Strobe” moisturiser in a body lotion format just months ago.

Brazilian beauty brand Sol De Janeiro has also gotten in on the action recently, debuting a limited edition series of “Glow Oils” in two different bronze tones.
