If you are experiencing a problem in getting a sufficient amount of rest, the following ideas may be useful to you.
Stick to a bedtime routine
Try to go to bed the same time every day. This will help you to get into a routine and prepare yourself to get a good night’s rest.
Comfortable clothing and bedding
Ensure that you dress comfortably in bedtime attire when going to bed. If it is cold, avoid under dressing and similarly, if it is very hot, do not overdress as this may affect your comfort level and quality of sleep.
Your bedding should also be comfortable, for example cotton bedding will be great during the hotter months while you may prefer a warmer material during the colder months, depending on the area of the country in which you reside.
Calming sleep environment
Create a calming and soothing sleep environment to support a good night’s rest. You could perhaps play calming music if it helps you to relax or maybe play no music at all. Avoid setting up a television in your bedroom or any other electronic items that may distract you from sleeping.
Switch lights off
Keep your bedroom lights dim or completely off when retiring for the day as bright lights may be a distraction and make it difficult for you to fall asleep.
Chat to your doctor
If you are experiencing a trouble in sleeping, chat to your doctor.
