As the dust settles after a long weekend, the overeating, binge drinking and possible lack of sleep may be catching up with you. We have a few home ideas to revitalise your body again.
If you have had enough fish, hot cross buns, Easter eggs, ham, lamb and so on for the past couple of days and need some type of cleansing but without the fuss, it’s actually quite easy.
Cleansing isn’t about depriving your body of food or nutrients – instead, it is a chance to retrain your appetite to acquire a taste for whole foods in their natural state, fitness expert Letshego Zulu explains. Detoxing also helps you to introduce healthy, organic and fresh foods to your diet.

Cleansing is about eating fresh whole foods as the basis of all your meals; eating more salads, having more smoothies and also drinking lots of water throughout the day.
Drink liquids:
With no alcohol! Your water intake should increase, keep hydrated and your body will naturally flush out the toxins. The more water or teas such as green tea you take in will help aid the process.
Green juices and smoothies are also an option. Adding healthy foods, fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables and blending them up is still effective as eating them whole.

When your body is filled with rich and indulgent food, it needs to move. A brisk walk outside for 30 minutes, or a workout for the same time or more, about three times a week is ideal. Sweat and exercise will help burn off the extra calories. Take a partner or friend for a run or a Pilates class to make the experience much easier and more fun.
Get enough sleep. Having enough sleep helps with the cleansing process. Dr Karine Scheuermaier of the University of Witwatersrand Sleep Laboratory believes people should get seven hours sleep a day. Sleep is just as important as a healthy exercise regime or following a balanced diet. It plays a key role in one’s health.
