Here are a few easy-to-do exercises to help keep your feet flexible and support good foot health.
The American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society recommends doing these simple exercises to strengthen toes and prevent foot discomfort:
This is a very simple exercise to do, anywhere. Simply raise your toes, followed by pointing them then curling them. Try to hold each position for approximately five seconds before repeating. You can repeat this routine 10 times.
Simply roll a golf ball – or perhaps any other firm ball of a similar size – under the ball of your right foot. Do this for about two minutes before switching to the next foot. This is a wonderful way of massaging the bottom of your feet and will help to improve their flexibility.
Walking on sand is a great way of massaging your feet. In addition, it will help to strengthen your toes, as well as provide you with good general foot conditioning. Make some time over the weekend to take a refreshing stroll on the beach, and be sure to go barefoot!
