How to maintain a summer body despite temptations
There is no ‘quick fix’ to a summer body; consistency and discipline are key.

Health and fitness enthusiast Sinako Dunywa has challenged South African men and women to move away from unhealthy eating habits and finding the consistency and discipline in reaching their summer body goals.
“We all know that summer holidays are around the corner and I want to urge men and women to avoid having to feel low in confidence during the summer months. Consistency in eating right and exercising is critical; there is no healthy short-term technique to achieve these goals.
“The temptation for an unhealthy lifestyle is higher in summer, but you need to learn how to be disciplined in controlling your diet and ensuring you alternate a cardio and gym session at least three times a week,” says Sinako.
Though the festive season is a time to let go, this doesn’t mean people should let themselves go, adds Sinako.
“There will be many of us who are travelling and holidaying somewhere away from our comfort zones, that’s fine. A road run or even a brisk walk has never failed anyone and ‘gym’ can be in the comfort of your porch, bedroom or lounge. Find a friend or family member with the same goals for some extra motivation but finding your inner motivation and concentrating on certain exercises will be a brilliant way to start your road to a healthy you.”
Simple exercises such as variations of strength and cardio exercises such as push-ups – targeting different muscle groups, weight-free squats, jumping jacks and lunges for the legs, and alternating each and every exercise with core exercises in between will initiate the journey to fat loss and muscle gain, said Sinako.
“Do a little ‘Shred Session’ at home for 30-45mins, balanced with healthy eating decisions and you will start seeing results within three weeks. You will thank me later.”
