Branching out from your area of expertise is difficult for any professional, but it seems some celebrities have mastered industries such as food and wine.
Actor Thapelo Mokoena’s wine partnership with Bosman Family Vineyards has been nominated and shortlisted for the 2021 Drinks Business Awards in the United Kingdom.
He made the exciting announcement last week, saying it was an honour to be recognised. Pop star Kylie Minogue’s wine with Benchmark Drinks also appears on the list.
Bosman Nero wine has been on the market since 2018 and has seen continued success. Bosman has been making wine for eight generations, but Mokoena seems to have put a lot of effort into this collaboration.
The actor and filmmaker said their Bosman Nero wine has only been in the market in the UK for under six months and is already receiving their recognition.

“With just under 6 months in the UK market, our launch campaign rang true & has solidified us with the UK market through @sainsburys stores.
“Nero Continues to Rise,” he wrote on Instagram.
The Bosman Nero is the first wine to be made from the Sicilian grape Nero D’Avola in South Africa. The taste of the red wine has been described as a classic Italian combination of fresh acidity and savoury tannins – that being fruity, with a bitter cherry and vanilla flavours.
Already sold nationally through Woolworths stores, directly through the Nero Wine Club, other online stores and Happy Cork in Brooklyn in the United States, Mokoena isn’t just a proud winemaker. He has reopened his restaurant, Molitva with another partner, Stella Artois Africa.
Molitva means prayer, the restaurant is of Mediterranean influence in the heart of Johannesburg and of course, the menu has dedicated food and wine pairings.
“We’ve spent a lot of time on our knees for this one. It’s more than just a restaurant, it’s a destination,” writes Mokoena.
