Four winning Glenlivet whisky cocktails to get race day going

Although usually enjoyed neat or on the rocks, Glenlivet whisky cocktails have become quite popular over the last year or so.
People are becoming more comfortable with drinking a spirit in unique ways even though whisky snobs have frowned on whisky cocktails in the past.
Here are four delicious cocktails made with Glenlivet Single Malt Scotch Whisky that are perfect for watching all the Durban July action from the comfort of your home this Saturday.

Packhorse
Ingredients
40ml Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve
20ml simple syrup
200ml ginger beer
Fresh mint sprigs for garnish
Method
1. Combine ingredients with ice in a highball glass.
2. Garnish with fresh lemon slices and mint sprigs.
Full Scottish
Ingredients
50ml Glenlivet 15-year-old
20ml lemon juice
15ml white port/ruby port
5ml simple syrup
15ml orange marmalade
Method
1. Place all ingredients in a cocktail shaker, including the marmalade. Shake hard and strain into a whisky tumbler filled with cubed ice.
2. Garnish with thin strips of orange zest similar to the ones found in marmalade.
Carnivale
Ingredients
50ml Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve
10ml freshly squeezed lime juice
120ml coconut water
2 dashes Amargo Chuncho
Method
1. Add The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve, fresh lime and coconut water to a highball glass half–full of crushed ice and stir.
2. Fill the glass with crushed ice, taking care not to bring the level of the liquid up too high. Add a dash of Amargo Chuncho bitters.
3. This can also be served as a shared drink in a jug, pitcher or punch bowl. Simply increase the volumes of the ingredients depending on the
number of people.
4. Add cubed ice and stir, then strain or ladle into ice–filled glasses.
Pomona Sour
Ingredients
40ml Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve
20ml cloudy apple juice/ apple syrup
10ml fresh lemon juice
10ml fresh lime juice
10ml egg white
Dash of sugar syrup
Dash of Angostura bitters
Method
1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice.
2. Strain into an old fashioned glass and garnish with an apple crisp.
