Lock, stock and wine barrel: Nederburg’s The Winemasters

The festive season is all about wrapping. There’s nothing quite as exciting as seeing beautifully wrapped gifts under a Christmas tree.

But to cut out the effort of wrapping a wine bottle (which can be tricky and dampen your Christmas cheer), Nederburg’s The Winemasters collection is now available in bold and beautiful colour fabric wraps. Conceived by the creative agency TBA, each wrap was illustrated by award-winning artist Sarita Immelman.

Immelman introduced some whimsicality to create another layer of experience to The Winemaster’s cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, sauvignon blanc and chardonnay. Each design tells the story of the enclosed bottle, with written tales on each bottleneck.

According to the tags, the cabernet sauvignon is born in the shadows, the shiraz is for the bold-hearted, the sauvignon blanc is written on a sea breeze, while the chardonnay reflects an exquisite balancing act.

Nederburg’s The Winemasters collection comprises classically styled, food-friendly wines with abundant fruit flavours – which really makes it a gift you can enjoy now. The limited edition range is available at selected Checkers, Tops, Liquor City, Ultra Liquors, Blue Bottle Liquors and Makro stores, and a few independent outlets.

If you want something even more special, the 2013 vintage of Nederburg II Centuries Cabernet (awarded the Warren Winiarski Trophy for the best cabernet sauvignon at the 2017 International Wine and Spirit Competition) is a great gift. It’s available at Vinoteque or at the farm.
