Get to know SA’s lesser known wines

This tasting of truly exceptional wines takes place at the Killarney Country Club on Thursday, September 7, at 6pm where visitors can try some of the finest Tempranillo, Semillon, Cinsaut, Grenache, Carignan, Tinta Barocca and many more delicious wine varietals. Tickets at R250 are available from Webtickets and Wine Menu at the Blu Bird Shopping Centre. The price includes unlimited tasting and light snacks.

Participation in the festival by wine producers is by invitation only, with the organisers ensuring that only top quality wines will be shown at the festival.

Wines for the 2017 festival include David & Nadia Aristargos 2016; David Finlayson Camino Africana Cabernet Franc 2014; Joostenberg “Small Batch Collection” Touriga Nacional 2015; Joostenberg “The Piano Man” Viognier 2015; Jordan Real Mc Coy Riesling 2016; Kloovenburg Carignan 2015; Lismore Age of Grace Viognier; Lourens Family Wines Howard John 2016; Mother Rock Cinsault/Carignan/Mourvedre 2016; Muiratie Laurens Campher White 2016; Neil Ellis Cinsaut Vineyard Selection 2014; Paul Cluver Gewurztraminer; Steenberg Nebbiolo 2015; Sutherland Viognier/Roussanne 2014; The Foundry Grenache Blanc 2014; Thelema  Muscat de Frontignan 2016; Trizanne TSW Barbera 2016 and Waterkloof Seriously Cool Cinsault 2016.

There will also be some international wines on the night.

Says organiser Corlien Morris from Wine Menu: “Consumers are choosing more ‘unusual’ grape varietals than ever before to broaden their wine experience. They are looking for something different in the marketplace. We have some fabulous product at this year’s festival.”

Wines are on sale on the night at less than their regular retail prices, while a number are no longer available in the general marketplace.
