Lock, stock and wine barrel: Wine gurus you should be following

One of the country’s last expert wine writers, Emile Joubert has a way of sharing honest and brilliant opinions.


Last week I was erroneously copied in an e-mail from a public relations person, the e-mail subject “Wine Influencers”.

The list is a who’s who of influencers with a following, plugging whatever they can get for free. Almost none ever write or share information about wine on their channels, let alone try to expand the wine industry or talk about its challenges and its numerous successes.

The popular hotel chain that sent out the e-mail might host a number of events focused around wine so they want these people there for trending purposes. But what good does it do when these people don’t serve as a bridge between the public and the wine industry?

So, if you’re in the market to follow some real wine gurus here is the list of those you should be following:
