Lush Lounge restaurant in Ruimsig definitely deserves an encore
From crystal glasses and unmatched design to fine cuisine, this new arrival is definitely in my top 10 list of places.

With a decadently bespoke finish, Lush Lounge restaurant has made quite an impression in the bustling suburb of Ruimsig in Roodepoort.
Located in the Featherbrook Village Shopping Centre, the new kid on the block has a solidly African soul and design, exciting New York feel and a touch of the old, the new and the timeless.
The entrance has a reception desk covered in green leaves made of velcro overlooking a fashion-forward coat stand next to a wooden stairwell that takes you to the upper deck, where the restaurant is located.

While the lighting in the entrance doesn’t present a warm welcome, one’s final step into the restaurant reveals an open high ceiling and a cozy atmosphere.
With a white, rich brown and grass green colour scheme, the Lush Lounge shimmers with it’s retro painted walls and bold lighting.
As I took a seat, a gentleman came to inform me he would be of service to me throughout the night. I looked around and and saw the other guests busy on laptops, gadgets or in animated conversations at the tables.

The menu needs work, although it was politely indicated that there was already a plan to recreate the first point of call for customers.
I ordered a double whiskey, and the waiter suggested the Jameson Select Reserve. I obliged and continued examining the menu.
I chose a small platter as it had all the right cuts of meat, with a salad.

While waiting for my order, I decided to familiarise myself with this new drinking hole, from the “green balcony” to the perfect centerpiece – the bar, which has its own distinct character.
The food arrived and I was impressed at the chef’s attention to detail. I tucked into the meat which was perfectly seasoned with an impressive cocktail of spices.
