The Lion King star Florence Kasumba was dressed by internationally acclaimed SA fashion designer David Tlale for the London premiere of The Lion King on Sunday.
She plays the voice of hyena Shenzi in the new Disney live-action version of The Lion King.
She walked the red carpet in a stunning Cape antelope bomber and maxi antelope skirt from Tlale’s latest Africanah collection.
“Florence is such an amazing star and I am honoured she requested me again. I wanted to give her a look that is different, but classic and timeless and stands out on the celebrity Disney carpet.
“The look speaks of an Africa that is global, elegant and true to itself,” said Tlale.
This is the second time that Florence has been dressed for a film premiere by Tlale. He also dressed her for the Black Panther premiere in Los Angeles last year.
With the main focus of the House of David Tlale being to amplify the African narrative, the iconic Africanah collection is fresh from a number of consecutive showcases including Arise Fashion Week, Lagos and the Conde Nast International Luxury Conference in conjunction with African Fashion International, held in Cape Town in April.
Other voices featuring in The Lion King include those of Beyoncé, Donald Glover and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
South African stars also lent their talent to the film adaptation, including composer Lebo M and actor John Kani, who voices the shaman Rafiki.
