Thuso Mbedu will take to the runway for the first time alongside other global L’Oréal spokespersons such as Kendall Jenner, Eva Longoria and Helen Mirren.
Last month L’Oréal Paris officially introduced Mbedu as their first-ever Sub-Saharan African Ambassador. She will now take to the runway at the Paris Fashion Week to form part of the beauty brand’s Le Défilé L’Oréal show.
“As well as guest attendee Bonang Matheba, the event will also be attended by Natasha Joubert, the reigning Miss South Africa,” read a statement by L’Oréal.
Titled Walk Your Worth, the show will be held at the Eiffel Tower, making it the first significant event ever hosted at this monumental site.
“As a celebration of women’s empowerment, L’Oréal Paris aims to pay homage to the strength and resilience of women worldwide.”

Mbedu and fellow Mzansi actress Charlize Theron were part of the opening of the Paris Fashion Week where fashion brand Christian Dior presented its latest garments inspired by feminism earlier this week.
Dior’s Creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri described the theme as “a rejection of the fashion industrial system, which dictates women must conform to an hourglass idea of perfection”.
Theron has been a Dior ambassador since 2012 and often wears the brand on the red carpet while Mbedu was confirmed as one of the brand’s new faces a few months ago.
Giant video screens splashed images of housewives in makeup and Marigold gloves, and of curvy models bending obligingly over cars, while feminist placard slogans flashed with neon urgency behind the catwalk reports The Guardian of the show. The video installation was created for the occasion by artist Elena Bellantoni.
The words: “Take your hands off when I say no, take your eyes off when I say no” were spelled out on video screens as the first model marched past in loose black layers, a punky choker and black shoes. The second model was defiantly un-pristine in unbuttoned shirt cuffs and tails.
However, how the glossy, logo-stamped designer handbag she carried gelled with the words: “Capitalism won’t take her where she really wants to go” on the screen behind her was left notably unresolved at this show.
