L’Oréal product recall: These Dark and Lovely hair care products have been recalled

The National Consumer Commission urged consumers in possession of certain products from the Dark and Lovely Precise range to stop using the product.

Dark and Lovely has done a voluntary recall of one of their products after they received complaints from hair users.

Earlier this week the National Consumer Commission (NCC) urged consumers in possession of certain Dark and Lovely Precise Diamond Straight and Shine relaxer 125 ml tubs with certain batch numbers “to immediately discontinue use of the product and return it to the point of sale for a full refund.”

The commission said they were informed by Dark and Lovely after they were alerted by 22 complaints from consumers.

Acting Consumer Commissioner, Ms Thezi Mabuza said Loreal, which owns Dark and Lovely, informed them of the voluntary recall.

“We urge South Africans who are in possession of Dark and Lovely Precise Diamond Straight and Shine relaxer 125 ml tub to return the product o the point of purchase for a refund.

“We understand that an isolated incident in the production led to an imbalance of the active raw material, affecting one batch only. Using the recalled product may lead to increased hair breakage, and increased scalp irritation,” she said.

The affected Dark and Lovely product and the batch numbers details are below:

Product: Dark and Lovely Precise Diamond Straight and Shine relaxer 125 ml tub.

Batch numbers: 87UD00  and 87UD01

Manufacturing date: December 2021, Expiry date: December 2023.
