What to expect on ‘Come Dine with Me SA’ season 5

In week three, the boerewors-curtain gets lifted when a vegan trauma doctor goes up against three meat-eaters.

The Safta award-winning reality dining show Come Dine with Me South Africa is back for a fifth season on BBC Brit.

The new season kicked off this week with a hilarious celebrity episode. Soap royalty Candice Modiselle, reality TV star Christall Kay, fashion designer to Gert-Johan Coetzee and hilarious drive time radio DJ Lucky du Plessis competed to win R10 000 for a charity of their choice.

Walking away from the evening victorious was the meticulous and super creative Gert-Johan.

He made sure to pull out all the stops by presenting an extravagant avocado and prawn stack, plated on a balsamic-reduction sketch, a juicy rack of lamb and a fabulous sugar-spun sensation of chocolate mousse and berry compote.

Next Monday features the first episode of Come Dine with Me SA featuring regular people ready to be wined and dined.

The Johannesburg-based episode stars a muscle-bound gym enthusiast, an accountant-turned-Samurai, a coffee connoisseur and a pretty-in-pink beauty entrepreneur.

There’s an unmissable dinner party that features a menu of pink walkie talkies for starters, pink pap and trotters, and a trashy, wet, messy tart for dessert – mostly pink, of course.

In week three, the boerewors-curtain gets lifted when a vegan trauma doctor, Ilse, goes up against three meat-eaters.

Come Dine with Me SA 5 is broadcast on BBC Brit (DStv channel 120) on Mondays at 8pm. Repeats are on Saturday at 7pm. Catch the first episode tomorrow night.
