Egoli actress Christine Basson, who played ‘Nora’, passes away

The popular actress had worked in local film and TV for about four decades.


The family of popular soapie actress Christine Basson confirmed on Monday morning that the Egoli cast member, who played Nora in the show, passed away early on Monday morning.

Louw Kemp took to Facebook to say that she had “gone home” at 4.45am and she would be missed.

Netwerk24 has also reported on her death.

Basson got her first acting credit in 1976 in the film Snake Dancer, a courageous biopic in the censorious apartheid era about a stripper/exotic dancer.

She was also in the popular series Konings, though was most known for appearing in Egoli, which ran from 1991 to 2009.

In local film, she was most known for her work on Eendag vir Altyd (1985), 40 Days (1979) and City Lovers (1982).
