According to Beeld, actors Dawid Minnaar (Dr Franz Basson), Elma Postma (Bea Delport), Neels van Jaarsveld (Dr Gideon Basson), and Odelle de Wet (Delia Richter) will all be making their last appearances sometime next year.

Announcing this intriguing development in a press statement, ‘Binneland’ producer Elsje Stark said: “It is inherent to the nature of a daily series: Characters are written in, they fulfil a dramatic story-function, and then it is time to say farewell.”

Neels van Jaarsveld said of his upcoming departure: “It was a very pleasant environment to work in and I hope that my character will return one day. Hopefully there are a few plays, movies, or other series on the horizon. At the end of February I’m moving back to the Cape.”

According to the publication, the imminent ‘Binneland’ plot twist will involve a difficult choice Dr Basson has to make with regards to his relationship with Bea.

‘Binneland’ airs at 6:30pm, Monday to Friday, on DStv channels kykNET and M-Net Terrestrial.
