Spring and summer weather means we will be experiencing much more rainy days.
Rainy days can be gloomy and cold, and leaving your heaters and electric blankets on for a long period could result in your electricity bill skyrocketing.
These smart hacks will assist you in keeping your home warm during the rainy and cold weather this weekend, without using too much electricity and burning a whole in your pocket.
Candle and pot plant trick
This trick makes use of no electricity, and should only be implemented if there are adults present in the home or bedroom.
TikTok user Travishuckaby has shared a video where he makes use of same-sized candles and a large pot plant to heat up one of his bedrooms.
In the video, he is seen lighting three candles and putting them next to one another to create a triangular shape.
Once he is done, he then puts the pot plant upside down, directly over the candles. The heat that is created in the pot plant by the candles is enough to warm up a single room in the house.
Make sure you continuously check on the candles and the pot plant to ,make sure that everything is still safe and in place.

Leave the oven door open
This hack will only work for a short amount of time, but it does make quite the difference.
That Property Guy shared a video of how he warms up his kitchen, which has an effect on the heating of the whole house.
He simply leaves his oven door open every time once he is done cooking. The heat from the oven escapes the oven and creates some warmth in the kitchen.
If your home is an open plan home, the heat from the oven could make a difference throughout your home, but the warmth will not last too long.

Keeping your bed warm throughout the cold weather days
Sleeping can become quite the mission if your bedroom and bed are too cold.
This last hack is specifically targeted at keeping your bed warm throughout the cold days.
Sarah Gunn has shared a video on how she keeps her bed warm throughout the winter season.
She makes use of a method called triple sheeting. She takes one flat sheet and puts it over her mattress. she then takes a blanket, and puts it flat over the sheet, and then takes one more flat sheet and lays it over the blanket, creating a layer of three sheets on the mattress.
Gunn explains that this method creates insulation throughout the three layers of sheets and keeps you cozy and warm all night.
