White eyeliner was seen on the Spring 2018 catwalks last autumn, with Snow Xue Gao sending models down the runway wearing thick stripes of bold white colour that was also dotted under the eye, making for a graphic aesthetic.
At the Spring 2018 Haute Couture shows in January, Dior used dashes of bright eyeliner to make its exaggerated eyeliner look representing spiky lashes really ‘pop’.
Fashion-forward celebrities quickly picked up on the trend, coming up with myriad ways to make the trend work for this season.
At the UK premiere of “I, Tonya” this February, Australian actress Margot Robbie stepped out sporting a chunky stripe of opaque eyeliner on her upper lid, courtesy of makeup artist Pati Dubroff.
The look was paired with a matte foundation base, nude lip and a simple lick of black mascara for contrast, keeping things elegant but very modern.
Willow Smith put a completely different spin on the look back in January, when she turned up to the aforementioned Dior show rocking an angular white underliner with a hot pink lip.
The visionary approach lent her look a futuristic vibe, while the lipstick and her tousled updo kept things carefree and playful.
Rihanna, naturally, was one step ahead of the game when she debuted her take on the trend at the end of last year.
The star took to Instagram in December to offer a glimpse at her perfectly executed feline flick, created with a popping white liner. Sunglasses optional.
