Bonang’s ‘nasty messages’ get social media frothing
The presenter has been called a snake on Twitter after screen grabs of DMs allegedly belonging to her were 'leaked'.

Bonang “Queen B” Matheba has to be one of Mzansi’s most loved and hated celebrities. Every weekend there seems to be another scandal surrounding her and her boyfriend, Kiernan “AKA” Forbes.
On Sunday, Bonang and #BonangExposedParty were trending on Twitter for two reasons: someone leaked DMs that were allegedly from her while another shared tweets that were allegedly tweeted from her account. Bonang has not responded to any of the allegations.

In the DMs that were allegedly from Bonang, she was throwing shade at her rival Minnie Dlamini and DJ Zinhle’s friend Pearl Thusi.
Minnie shared a picture on Twitter of herself in a bikini and captioned it “Shoot day”, to which Bonang responded with “breathe in girl”, questioning Minnie’s flat tummy.
In the second screen grab of a DM allegedly from her, she throws shade at Pearl Thusi over her Quantico role. Bonang supposedly was not impressed with people making a big deal out of Thusi’s role on the American series, but there’s no proof that Bonang really wrote this.
Bonang has also been accused of tweeting “degrading” comments about the São Paulo International Airport while she was in Brazil for her Ipanema shoot.
Following this, an online petition has been started, calling for Ipanema to review their contract with her and the Brazilian government to suspend her travels through the airport.
The petition reads:
Dear Ipanema & Ministério do Turismo
We write to you to express great concern over the lack of respect displayed by South African television presenter Bonang Matheba and to ask for your support in suspending Miss Matheba’s travels through São Paulo International Airport and reviewing her contact with Ipanema.
Congratulations to Miss Matheba on being named the brand ambassador of Brazil’s hottest flip flop brand Ipanema. During Miss Matheba’s visit to Brazil, she tweeted some degrading comments on her official twitter profile (@bonang_m) as she was leaving to return back to Johannesburg, South Africa.
I was lucky enough to have visited Guarulhos in 2015 and it was the first time i had ever traveled to Brazil and I arrived through São Paulo. What struck me then was just how wonderful the people were – welcoming and friendly and not to mention how beautiful and clean the airport is itself.
I personally urge Ipanema to review their brand ambassador as this type of behavior does not only impact their brand, but also the country itself. Miss Matheba has over 1 Million followers on twitter and such remarks are very unprofessional and it only speaks more of what kind of a person she is. I’m 100% sure she (and other South Africans) would not appreciate it if a Brazilian public figure was to trash their International airport like she did.
Thank you for your attention to these important matters.
Though some believe that the DMs did come from her, others think this is another Photoshop scam to try to discredit her.
However, most are against the petition, saying hating Bonang is one thing, but trying to take away her livelihood another. With only seven signatures by the time of publishing, it suggested more people were against the idea, saying it was unnecessary.
