Things looked a little different in many households this morning, as South African children – some with much excitement, others trying to hold back tears – headed back to school.
It is Bryan Habana and his wife’s touching back to school ritual that had fans in awe this morning.
“Back to school today and @janinehabana’s little reminder that even if we aren’t physically together, our hearts are always connected,” the Springbok wrote in an Instagram post. Their #Back2School photo boasts their family’s hands put closely together, each with a little heart carefully drawn onto it. The simple gesture serves as a visual reminder that although they’re apart for a few hours of the day, their kids will always have their hearts.

Former Springbok captain, Victor Matfield shared a photo of his three daughters on social media too. “Dad’s pride,” he wrote in a short and sweet caption. “Back to school.” The three girls stood close together, smiling at the camera while proudly flaunting their crisp school uniforms.
Even the toddlers headed back to school today, including actor and presenter Robbie Kruse’s daughter, who is kicking off the new school year in Grade RRR. “First day of school in Grade RRR,” he wrote in his caption, accompanying a picture of his smiling daughter, who chose to wear a cheerful floral dress for the big day.
The excitement is evident on her face and in her moves as you scroll through the carousel of pics on Kruse’s feed. “The world is your oyster my ninja princess,” he wrote. “Big school here we come.”
Celebrity makeup artist and wardrobe stylist, Suna Roberts also shared a proud moment this morning as her two daughters, Mila and Lomé headed into their grade 7 and grade 9 years respectively. Demi Lee Moore couldn’t resist commenting on Roberts’ pretty daughters heading back to school. Neither could Karlien van Jaarsveld, who couldn’t believe how old they were already.
By the looks of things, the first day of school kicked off smoothly for most, whether it was with excitement or with some nerves.
