No matter what age we take on motherhood, we all need a little help when it comes to bringing home a newborn.
Here are some tips to help you out after welcoming your new addition.
Get help getting your baby to latch
If you want to breastfeed and you’re struggling a little, make sure to get a professional to guide you through the process and make it easier and more comfortable, for the both of you.
Keep the baby swaddled
It makes them feel safe and secure and will promise a better night’s sleep.
Make sure you’re prepared
Have bottles washed and ready, formula sorted if you’re not breastfeeding, and everything available when you need it to avoid a screaming baby who is starving or wet.
Take shifts
Whether it be with daddy, your mom, or nanny, make sure to get some help in the beginning so that you don’t burn out. And try to get a little sleep in between — day and night.
Play tunes
White noise and tunes seem to work for newborns as it calms them down.
Enjoy bath time
Many believe bathing your baby before bedtime is best as it relaxes them. Make this time special for you and your partner, and let the baby spend this time calming down before a bottle and a good night’s rest.
Embrace the chaos
Life is going to change, and it’s not going to be easy. Embrace it, and find a routine and system that works for you.
