Thomas Gumede’s letter to his unborn son gives a glimpse into expectant dads’ thoughts

The 34-year-old actor also revealed, perhaps inadvertently, that he is the father of Zola Nombona's child.

It’s very rare to find expectant dads being open and vulnerable enough to share their thoughts and feelings, so it was quite the surprise to see SAFTA-award-winning actor, director and filmmaker Thomas Gumede lay it all bare on his Twitter feed in the cutest message to his unborn son.

The 34-year-old actor also revealed, perhaps inadvertently, that he is the father of Zola Nombona’s child.

Gumede began by sharing how he felt the first time he found out his partner was pregnant before immediately realising that life would never be the same again.

According to the actor, Nombona is now in her third trimester and he is still overcome with emotion at the thought of being a father.

He concluded the message before reflecting on how fatherhood has changed him before making a promise to his son.

This is the first time Gumede has publicly confirmed that he is going to be a father and this prompted congratulations from fellow actors such as Zenande Mfenyana (who also recently confirmed that she is expecting), Salamina Mosese, and Nolwazi Shange.

Actress and student activist turned politician, Naledi Chirwa also congratulated Gumede.

Fellow SAFTA award winner Nombona, 28, announced her pregnancy with an open letter of her own back in February which led to rumours of Robert Marawa being her secret lover being re-ignited.

Neither Gumede nor Nombona have publicly declared being with each other so news of their relationship comes as a shock to the general public.
