Herschelle Gibbs ordered to pay child support to baby mamma

The mother has applied for R17,000 per month plus R84,000 to cover pre-birth expenses.

In September last year, a woman gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. His father is ex Proteas cricket star, Herschelle Gibbs.

However, according to court documents, Gibbs has not been involved in the child’s life at all, has distanced himself from the mother, and even ordered a paternity test to prove that he was the father of the child.

The woman (whose identity has been withheld to protect the child), was forced to turn to the courts to compel Gibbs to contribute towards the care of the now 8-month-old.

According to a report in Weekend Argus, the woman has applied for R17,000 per month plus R84,000 to cover pre-birth expenses. The baby was born via Caesarean section, and his mother suffered an infection shortly afterwards.

Last week, the court ordered the 45-year-old Gibbs to begin paying a monthly R4,500 to the child and his mother. All parties will return to court again in August to hear the mother’s application for further maintenance costs
