Bethesda reveals Fallout 76

The new Fallout game is reportedly an online survival RPG.

For the past couple of days, Bethesda Softworks appeared to be taunting the internet, by leaving an image of the Fallout broadcast signal on its official Twitter account.

The image caused a lot of excitement as well as confusion. After all, Fallout 4 only came out three years ago and another Fallout title following it so soon seemed out of step with Bethesda’s development cycle.

It was also the subject of a small amount of disappointment; fans have been waiting for another single-player Elder Scrolls game for the better part of a decade. A new Fallout game means that they’ll have to wait a little longer.

In the meantime, Bethesda has revealed the teaser trailer for its latest Fallout game, Fallout 76. Have a gander below:

As you can see, there are scant details revealed in that teaser beyond the fact players will be playing a Vault Boy and that Vault 76 will make an appearance in the game. Fans of the franchise will know that Vault 76 is a ‘control vault’ against which all the experiments conducted on humans in other vaults can be measured.

According to a report on Kotaku, though, a couple of people familiar with the project have revealed that the game will be an online survival RPG, in the same vein as games like DayZ and Rust. There’s no way to confirm the accuracy of these reports – and Bethesda’s not saying anything.

If you’d like to learn more about the game, we suggest you tune into Bethesda’s E3 keynote, which takes place on the June 10th at 03:30 local time. You can catch it all live on Twitch.
