Phat Joe and Real Goboza part ways

The show’s producer Sydney Mekgwe had nothing but good things to say about Khambule.

East Coast Radio and TV presenter Majota “Phat Joe” Khambule, and popular SABC1 celebrity gossip entertainment show Real Goboza have parted ways.

In a statement released by the show’s publicity team on Twitter, it was confirmed the host would not be returning to the show after being away for the past month.

Although reasons for the sudden departure were not made public, speculation arose from the fact that Khambule allegedly took some time off the show to shoot another show on an opposition channel.

It is rumoured he has received greater demand from the channel, leading to a conflict of interest between the personality and Real Goboza, with whom he had a seven-year contract.

“Thank you to all the fans for the opportunity. I had a lot of fun! Most importantly, thank you to the entire RGB team. I will see you all in the near future. Watch this space,” said Phat Joe of his departure from the show.

He told The Citizen: “I’ve been with RGB since the programme was brought back on air back in 2010. It’s been fun working with and mentoring various talents. It’s time to make way for new blood and pursue new and exciting opportunities.”

The show’s producer Sydney Mekgwe had nothing but good things to say about Khambule.

“His professionalism, insight and engaging character kept our viewers glued to their screens. We wish him all the best,” he said.
