LIMPOPO – Wilma Swanepoel, owner of Must Love Dogs Kennels and Doggy Parlour, has been discharged from the hospital after 65 days.
“She is recovering at her sister’s house in Nelspruit to be close to the doctors at the hospital. We hope to get back in Hoedspruit in about a month or so depending on how the healing process goes,” says said Tilana Harding, Wilma’s daughter.
“Her right arm has healed beautifully but there is still a long road to recovery ahead. We’re so proud of her, she remains determined, strong and positive despite her whole life being turned upside down.”
On July 6 Wilma suffered a vicious attack by two bull terriers that were boarding at her kennels.
She was feeding and tending to them personally every day and was alone in the kennels with two of her grandchildren when the attack happened. She sustained serious injuries to both legs and arms and lost a lot of blood. She was taken to Nelspruit Mediclinic where she underwent surgery and VAC wound therapy.
Wilma has undergone multiple operations and skin grafts.
