“The club has been quiet for a while and there hasn’t been any tennis action,” said Simba.
“This is our way of developing the community. Our goal is to win a major tournament sanctioned by Tennis South Africa.”
Simba added that they hope this initiative will encourage enterprises who would like to get involved with initiatives like this to invest in tennis.
Chairperson of the Birch Acres Tennis Club Gerhad Saffy, spoke to the Kempton Express.

“The club was founded in 1984 and I joined in 1985. The club needs sponsors because redoing a court costs a lot of money.”
Saffy added that schools also need to play their role in bringing tennis back to Kempton Park as every sport starts at school level.
