Thembisa Soup Kitchen gives back to community

The event brought together elderly citizens, youth, community members, and various organisations in a spirit of unity and remembrance.

On September 26, the Soup Kitchen in Thembisa hosted a vibrant celebration of National Heritage Month at Ndayeni, honouring the lives of the freedom fighters who fought for the freedoms enjoyed today.

The celebration was graced by the presence of the royal family, including Tog Macingwane, Chief of the amaNdebele, and featured entertainment from local artists as well as performances by the youth in the community.

Muzi Mazibuko, who spearheaded the event, ensured that the elderly guests were well accommodated despite the challenging windy conditions.

“Even with the weather trying to dampen our spirits, the event proceeded as planned, and everyone had a wonderful time celebrating and learning about our heritage,” said Mazibuko.

The celebration was not just a gathering but an important reminder of the rich history and cultural legacy that shapes the community today, leaving attendees with a renewed sense of appreciation for their heritage.
