Classify now offcially with De Kock stable

NEW HOME. Port Elizabeth raider Classify has moved to the Mike de Kock yard at Randjesfontein after her great run in the Grand Heritage and will be trained on the Highveld.
Classify, the Port Elizabeth-based horse who finished a 0.4 length second behind Forest Fox in the R750,000 WSB Grand Heritage over 1475m last Saturday, will not return to the Eastern Cape but will stay with Mike de Kock at Randjesfontein.
This was confirmed yesterday by joint owner and previous trainer Dorrie Sham.
“We were thrilled by his performance on Saturday. Each time we’ve asked him to do something he’s given us a bonus.
“But he has been merit rated out of Port Elizabeth so we decided to leave him up in Joburg with Mike,” said Sham. Classify currently runs o a rating of 95.
When she brought the horse to the Highveld in September the son of Sail From Seattle was stabled with De Kock although she remained responsible for his training and the horse ran under her name. “Now he’ll stay with Mike and race as a De Kock runner,” Sham added.
Asked if there were any plans for the six-year-old Sham said: “Maybe we’ll take a shot at the Charity Mile but I’ll leave it up to Mike, he’s much cleverer than I am.
“Classify is a trier, we were very impressed by his two runs in Joburg so whatever he does is fine with us.”
However, Sham confesses she will miss her “baby”. “There’s an empty hole at the stable,” she commented.
Sham bought Classify at the Adriaan van Vuuren sale for just R5,000. He had not raced and had stayed on the farm until moved to their stable in PE. However, he is a big horse and not having raced until he was five years old could well have worked in his favour. “I think he is an advert for giving a horse time,” said Sham.
