Vaal racecourse will showcase its Grand Heritage

It is a day for the family with the bring-and-braai area

On 30 September the Vaal Racecourse will come alive with the thundering sound of hooves across the turf with the running of the Grand Heritage presented by World Sports Betting.

There have been 70 runners entered for this one-of-a-kind annual event which sees an eventual field of 28 runners battle it out over 1475m on the Vaal straight for a stake of R750,000.

It is a day for the family with the bring-and-braai area added as a new feature for this year’s edition to entice visitors to bring the family, throw some meat on the fire and enjoy an exciting day out.

Last year Irish Pride and jockey Gavin Lerena made history as winners of the first Grand Heritage.

There will also be plenty to keep the kids occupied throughout the afternoon and the rugby buffs will be taken care of with the Rugby Championship encounter between the Springboks and Australia to be beamed on course.

There are also hospitality options in the Riverside and Ascot Rooms and these can be booked by calling 011 681 1702.

Every year the Vaal Racecourse plays host to a grooms’ race and once again the staff of trainers based at the venue will have a dash for cash.

Tickets for the Grand Heritage presented by World Sports Be ing are R10 and will be available at the gate on the day.
